James Squire One Fifty Lashes Pale Ale Beer Review
I like pale ales. They’re great work horses. This one comes from James Squire based out of New South Wales. The story behind the name is that James Squire was one of the convicts sent to Australia and he was caught stealing ingredients to make the first batch of beer in Australia. The judge ordered 150 lashes and 2 barrels of ale as his punishment.
From my experience Australians seem to flip-flop on the convict stuff. Sometimes they’ll insist it’s just a stereotype; that they’re not all descendants of convicts, and other times they’ll wear the badge proudly. I don’t care, I just want another delicious beer please.

It might be the green on the label, but this makes me think of green apples. It’s not a cidery beer though, but It is a bit fruity. They mention passionfruit, grapefruit & citrus. I just taste apples.
Like the Big Helga, I could see this one becoming part of my regular rotation.
